Bilbao mayor blasts Real's Copa refusal

The mayor of Bilbao is the latest in a long line of critical voices against Real Madrid's refusal to host the Copa de Rey finals.
The mayor of Bilbao, Inaki Azkuna, has blasted Real Madrid for being unwilling to host the Copa del Rey finals at the Santiago Bernabeu. The finals will be contested by Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, and the Los Blancos' home was widely considered as the ideal venue because of its centralized location and seating capacity.
Azkuna believes the official reason provided by Real Madrid is simply an excuse. He declared that the La Liga leaders should be ashamed of their behaviour.
"It is shameful that because they are repairing some bathrooms or something they will not host the match, there must be something more to it that I do not know about." Azkuna said to Onda Vasca.
"[Madrid president] Florentino Perez did not make any effort to stage the match."
The Copa del Rey finals is slated to take place on the 25th of May, and the game venue is likely to be decided during a Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) meeting today [Tuesday].
