Agent: Cambiasso will remain at Inter for years to come

Esteban Cambiasso's agent has revealed that his client was reduced to tears by the boos and whistles which greeted his withdrawal in Inter's 2-2 draw at home to Catania on Sunday. Yet he has no doubt that the Argentine will remain at San Siro for years to come.

Cambiasso was jeered from the field after an uncharacteristically subdued showing and, at 31, he could soon be deemed surplus to requirements by the Nerazzurri, who many pundits believe are in need of fresh legs in midfield.

However, the player's representative, Peppino Tirri, insists that Cambiasso still has much to offer Inter.

"The whistles at Cambiasso? The fans were rightly venting their anger in what is a difficult time for the team," he mused in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb. "[They were] only directed at Cambiasso out of frustration and for no other reason, because what Cambiasso has given to Inter is seen and appreciated by everyone.

"Cambiasso has given so much to the Inter cause and that was really shown in the tears after his substitution. Those who were whistling yesterday were doing so out of rage because of the bad spell the team is in. Everyone is paying [for it], but above all the senior members of the squad. He will still be a point of reference for Inter in the coming years. The fans are making their feelings known a bit, but there is nobody better around than Esteban."

Cambiasso joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2004 and played a key role in the club's treble success in 2010.
