City Move A Mistake and Madrid Switch Needed – Diego Maradona Advises Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero has been advised to snatch any chance of playing for Real Madrid by his father-in-law Diego Maradona.

The Argentine legend believes that Aguero made a mistake by moving to the Citizens last summer and not holding out for the chance to sign for Los Blancos – it is one he believes the prolific forward should not make again.

"Aguero must play for Real Madrid", Maradona told Radio La Red.

"If he signs, it would be his big breakthrough", added the current Al Wasl coach.

And Maradona is of the mind that Aguero should not have signed for Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City side in the first place, despite admitting that he has been impressed with the striker’s performances at Eastlands this season, which will have the knock-on effect of making him hard to get for Real Madrid.

"He’s playing well with City, but he made a mistake.

"Now he is doing so well, it will be difficult to take him from City."

And the dream of seeing his son-in-law playing at the Bernabeu is one that Maradona well understands will be difficult, with Manchester City not under any financial pressure whatsoever to sell Aguero.

"It’s a matter of convincing the club, but you can’t do that with money because City have enough of that", said the Argentine.

Maradona also predicts that Los Blancos would, as a team, move closer towards equalling the brilliance of Barcelona if they were to sign Aguero – with Cristiano Ronaldo a specific beneficiary.

"Real Madrid would be closer to FC Barcelona if Aguero went to play there.

"He would keep opposing defences occupied and I think that then Cristiano Ronaldo would score at least 60 goals."

There is little suggestion Aguero is unhappy with his decision to swap Atletico Madrid for Manchester City last summer and the Argentine is under contract at Eastlands until 2016. However, Real Madrid have been linked with a swoop for the striker in recent weeks and his stock in world football is high.
