Radja Nainggolan looks set to leave Cagliari

Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan has emerged as a surprise summer transfer target for Manchester City.

The 23-year-old appeared as a substitute for Belgium in the 1-1 draw with Greece in midweek and afterwards admitted he is far from certain to stay with the Sardinian club next season.

His future is likely to depend on how much progress Cagliari make with their plans to move to a new ground.

Nainggolan told La Derniere Heure: 'If the club can build its new stadium, the president wants to keep his whole squad.

'If this is not the case, it changes things.'

Juventus are known to be keen to sign Nainggolan, but the player has previously indicated he would rather leave Italy than join another Serie A side.

Reports in Belgium suggest City are one of the other clubs monitoring the ex-Piacenza star with a view to making a summer bid.

Should they choose to move for him, they are likely to face competition from Russian Premier League teams Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow.
