AVB: City so much better than us

BLUE BETTER WATCH OUT ... AVB admits Chelsea are not up to Man City's standard
ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS claims his Chelsea squad is a distant second best to Manchester City.
The Blues boss heads into a crucial month as they chase a Champions League spot.
But ahead of a trip to West Brom, AVB talked up City — who Chelsea must also visit in two weeks.
Villas-Boas said: "We have access to the best talent and like to promote talent but I don't think you can compare the two squads. Their squad is a lot better.
"This squad also has a responsibility to win four trophies. But City have a better squad, more depth.
"When the top team has access to buy from their title rivals, you can build something extraordinary."
Chelsea spent £75million on Fernando Torres and David Luiz a year ago.
Villas-Boas added: "Maybe in the past we had the spending power, but not how it was applied this season. It's a two-horse race for the title — but one of the Manchester teams is going to end up being extremely unsuccessful.
"One of them will be out of the Champions League, out of the FA Cup and out of the Carling Cup.
"One of them is going to miss out on their objectives.
"Do ambitious players go to City now instead of Chelsea? I don't know."
Chelsea are fifth and AVB knows what owner Roman Abramovich demands and what happens if he does not get it.
Portuguese Villas-Boas gave his players three days off this week for the first time this season ahead of a trip to West Brom.
The boss hopes the rest will give them the drive to finish the season strongly.
Villas-Boas said: "There's a slim chance of third place getting closer to us this weekend, if we do our job.
"We've under-performed but we can still improve."
