Mourinho: CSKA draw not a bad result

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is confident that his side will seal progress to the next round of the Champions League despite the 1-1 draw against CSKA Moscow.

Real Madrid were cruising comfortably in the tie at Moscow after Cristiano Ronaldo's first half goal and spurned several chances to kill off the game, only to concede late goal when Pontus Wernbloom scored in the final minute of injury time.

Mourinho rued his side's wastefulness in front of goal but is far from panicking, insisting that Los Blancos still have the tie in their hands.

He told AS after the match: "Without doing anything out of this world, we should have been able to score a second goal, but it's not a bad result.

"I'm not happy but not too sad. This is not a drama. We did the same last year in Lyon [in the last 16] and we still qualified for the quarters. We can win at home."

Real Madrid defender Pepe reflected similiar sentiments, saying: "We deserved to win tonight. It's a shame, but we're in a good position to progress at the [Santiago] Bernabeu."

His fellow defender Sergio Ramos, though, felt that CSKA's equaliser should not have stood, claiming that Ronaldo had been fouled as the Portuguese tried to break up-field just moments before Wernbloom struck.

"There are refereeing issues that I don't want to get into," the Spain international told reporters after the game.

"I think it's clear foul on Ronaldo before the goal for CSKA but we cannot go back in time and do anything about it now."

Madrid welcome CSKA to the Spanish capital for the return leg on March 14.
