MILAN (AP)—Claudio Ranieri’s job was in danger after a disastrous defensive performance saw Inter Milan lose 3-0 to struggling Bologna in Serie A on Friday night—giving the hosts 10 league losses in a season for the first time since 1946-47.
Marco Di Vaio scored for Bologna (6-9-7) in the 37th and 38th minutes following two shocking Inter mistakes, and Robert Acquafresca added a goal in the 86th after another Nerazzurri lapse.
Just as they did during last week’s home loss to Novara, the home fans voiced their displeasure. Inter (11-10-3) is in an 0-5-1 skid in all competitions heading into next week’s Champions League second-round match at Marseille.
Di Vaio was completely unmarked on the first goal, then scored the second when Andrea Ranocchia tried to control a long Bologna pass but chested it into Di Vaio’s path.
Acquafresca scored when four defenders seemed scared to tackle him as he as muscled his way forward with ease.
Napoli (9-5-10) moved past Inter into fifth place with a 3-0 win at Fiorentina. Edinson Cavani scored in the third and 55th minutes, giving him 15 league goals this season, and Ezequiel Lavezzi scored in the stoppage time.
