I have a say

Genoa coach Pasquale Marino has demanded both a win and a huge improvement from his players at Atalanta after their disappointing display at Catania on Sunday.

The Grifoni had won their previous two league games, including a 3-2 triumph over Lazio, only to fall 4-0 in Sicily.

"You cannot go from one extreme to the next in the space of one week," Marino said. "We played a terrible game at Catania and this is something we tend to do when playing away from home.

"We need to find the right balance no matter where we play.

"I expect a better performance from my players at Atalanta.

"We need to get back on track."

Wednesday's encounter was scheduled to be played earlier this month but was postponed due to heavy snow in Bergamo.

Genoa are still without injured striker Alberto Gilardino but midfielders Juraj Kucka and Kevin Constant return from suspension.

"Of course, it doesn't help that I have to change my tactics every week because of players being out injured or suspended," Marino said. "But the return of Kucka and Constant will certainly help us."

Genoa, who are ninth in the standings, head into the encounter at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia looking for their first win on their travels since beating Siena on December 10.

Since then, Marino's men have conceded four times away from home and given away 18 goals in the process.

Fortunately for Genoa, rivals Atalanta have struggled in front of goal of late.

The Bergamaschi have found the net just twice in their last five encounters.

Atalanta had to settle for a goalless draw despite hitting the post twice against Lecce last weekend.

The result left Atalanta in 15th place, six points clear of third-bottom Lecce.

"Things are not going well for us," Atalanta coach Stefano Colantuono said. "We create goalscoring chances but are lacking the finishing touch.

"I'm sure that sooner or later we will be rewarded for our efforts."
