Winger Nicky Riley looks set to miss Dundee's clash with Hamilton at Dens Park through illness.
Barry Smith's side are also without midfielder Gavin Rae for the first time since the former Scotland international moved to Aberdeen at the end of the transfer window.
Smith has thrown down the gauntlet to his squad to show that they can keep their fine league season going despite Rae's absence.
Smith said: "I believe we have the players that can come in and replace Gavin and I look forward to seeing them do that.
"Hamilton made some good signings last month and we will need to keep a close eye on Mark Stewart, who is a striker we know well from his time at Falkirk."
Hamilton will include loanees Jon Routledge and Mark Stewart in their squad.
However, manager Bill Reid has injury concerns to deal with although he is reluctant to name the players who could be missing.
Reid said: "We have a number of big players struggling which seems to be a constant theme with us. I do not want to say who they are, but they are a big part of our team and at the moment I am trying to piece together a squad.
"We have something to prove after losing 6-1 to Dundee in our last meeting and whatever team I send out will need to stand up and be counted in this game."
