I RULE ... Mourinho is 2005 Prem king at Chelsea

He lost his first El Clásico encounter at the Nou Camp 5–0.

But, last April, he won his first trophy by beating Barcelona 1–0 in the Copa del Rey final.

Despite his current convincing lead in the league, the knives are out for Mourinho.

Earlier this week, one of Spain's leading newspapers did a double page demolition job on him under the headline 'Dr Jekyll and Mister Mourinho'.

Mourinho has grown sick and tired of the political in-fighting, the vested interests and the back-stabbing at the Bernabeu. So he will walk in the summer.

The final straw for him came just last month.

There were hurtful leaks to the Press of an angry clash with goalkeeper Iker Casillas and defender Sergio Ramos after defeat by Barcelona in the first leg of this season's Copa del Rey quarter-final clash.

And Mourinho, who still has 18 months left on his contract, was also booed by his own Madrid fans during a 4-1 win over Athletico Bilbao two weeks ago. That is when the great man decided enough was enough — even though the club's hierarchy remain keen to keep him.

Mourinho's trusted friend explained: "Jose still has a top relationship with Madrid president Florentino Perez and general director Jose Angel Sanchez.

"They both know the work he is doing and they know the strength and personality Jose has to face this club's problems.

"They know he has power to fight the prima donnas in the dressing room. And they know that only with Jose can they win the title.

"Make no mistake, they want Jose to stay. They support him and, of course, they have big financial power.

"But the problem at the Bernabeu is the media and the politics.

"Madrid is a club without an owner, a club with elections (Perez is up for re-election next year) and it is a club that makes money like an open tap gives water.

"So everybody wants to fight to be there — old players, old coaches, old directors, ex-politicians, businessmen.

"Real Madrid really is El Dorado for these people — and they work in media lobbies to try to get in there or to stay in there. Some of them want to f*** the president but what's the best way to do it?

"Not through football results and titles. No, so instead they want to f*** the manager, create s**t and use Spanish players to get inside information.

"But all this has created a deep hole for everyone and it's somewhere Jose doesn't want to be. He doesn't enjoy it and certainly doesn't deserve it.

"So all he's focused on now is winning the league and maybe another Champions League and then getting out — and back to England."
