Siena vs Catania preview - Sannino wants Siena response

Siena coach Giuseppe Sannino expects his players to immediately bounce back from last weekend's derby defeat at Fiorentina when they host Catania.

Sunday's loss was Siena's ninth defeat of the campaign and left the Tuscan outfit in 17th place, just three points clear of the drop zone.

Sannino was disappointed with the 2-1 defeat and is looking for an immediate reaction from his team as they aim to climb up the standings.

"To concede a goal after four minutes was not part of our game plan," Sannino said. "We didn't play as well as we could have and I can understand that the fans are disappointed.

"Fortunately, we have a chance to bounce back immediately and we will try to get all three points against Catania."

Catania coach Vincenzo Montella will also be hoping for an instant response from his side after last weekend's 1-1 draw with Parma extended his side's winless run to four games.

That poor run of form, which has brought just one point in their last three league games, has seen the Sicilians drop to 15th place, four points above Siena.

"We made mistakes against Parma and we were fortunate to clinch a point," Montella said. "We didn't have the right approach to the game.

"We need to keep working and try to make the most of our chances."

Catania have not won on the road since beating Lecce 1-0 on November 26, but they will be bolstered by the return of defender Nicola Legrottaglie and midfielder Sergio Almiron from injury.

Siena are hoping that defender Claudio Terzi, who is doubtful with a knee problem, will be fit to play.
