Sebastien Bassong and Hugo Rodallega 'for QPR spending spree'

Spurs centre-back Sebastien Bassong and Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega are among the players in QPR's sights, as Mark Hughes plans a last-minute spending spree.

The Welshman was told he had transfer funds available when he succeeded Neil Warnock as manager at Loftus Road, but has struggled to spend the money.

Hughes returned to his former club Manchester City to sign Nedum Onuoha and has brought in AC Milan full-back Taye Taiwo on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Doubts remain about whether the squad is strong enough to avoid relegation and Hughes is hoping to make at least three more acquisitions before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

He intends to bring in out-of-favour Spurs duo Bassong and Steven Pienaar, reports the People.

Tottenham want £7 million for the pair, but QPR's moneymen hope to pay closer to £5 million.

Hughes has also targeted Wigan's Rodallega, who he believes could add some more firepower to his shot-shy frontline

The Colombia international is out of contract at the end of the season and Wigan must decide whether to seek a £4 million sale now or risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

Rodallega has plenty of admirers and knows the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool would be interested if he became a free agent.
