Barcelona loses Pedro for game at Villarreal

BARCELONA, Spain (AP)—Barcelona says forward Pedro Rodriguez has injured his left thigh and won’t be available for Saturday’s Spanish league game at Villarreal.

The Spanish international has missed several matches because of injury this season.

Chile forward Alexis Sanchez, however, is a late addition to the squad after “responding favorably” to a shoulder injury he suffered during the Copa del Rey game on Wednesday, when his team knocked out Real Madrid.

Barcelona, which trails Madrid by five points in the league standings, is already without injured striker David Villa (broken leg) and midfielder Andres Iniesta (muscle injury).

Barcelona visits Valencia in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal on Wednesday.
