Catania vs Parma preview - Montella wants whole-hearted display

Catania coach Vincenzo Montella has urged his players to give their all against Parma as they look to halt their slide down the Serie A table.

The Sicilians have endured a disappointing start to 2012. Catania followed their 2-0 defeat at Bologna with a 2-1 loss at Udinese last time out to drop to 14th place.

"My players need to show more determination and be ruthless in front of goal if we want to avoid having a nervous end to the campaign," Montella said.

"Considering the opportunities we create in attack, we score few goals and this has to change.

"I expect my players to step up their game and beat Parma on Sunday."

The islanders will be without defender Nicola Legrottaglie and midfielder Sergio Almiron, who are suspended.

Maxi Lopez is unlikely to play with the Argentina striker on the verge of completing his transfer to AC Milan.

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni does not think Lopez's departure will weaken Catania.

"We know the strength of our rivals," he said.

"The fact that Lopez will not play does not change our tactics. Catania are a strong side that always makes life difficult for their opponents and we will have to be ready."

Donadoni will not hand new signing Stefano Okaka his debut at the Angelo Massimino stadium.

The Italian striker joined Parma this week on loan from Roma but is lacking match fitness.

"Okaka has only had a few training sessions with us so he will not play," Donadoni said.

"I will, however, take him to Catania in order for him to adapt to the group as soon as possible."

Parma held Bologna to a goalless draw last time out to climb to 12th place.

The Ducale club will be without defender Cristian Zaccardo, who is suspended.
