AMSTERDAM (AP)—Englishman Steve McClaren marked the beginning of his second stint as FC Twente coach with a 5-0 win over RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie on Saturday.
The former England manager guided Twente to its first Dutch league championship in 2010 then didn’t last long at his next clubs, Wolfsburg and Nottingham. He re-signed with Twente this month after coach Co Adriaanse was fired with Twente at third in the standings.
Luuk de Jong scored in each half while Emir Barjami and Naser Chadli netted a goal each and winger Ola John curled in the fifth in the 81st minute
Twente was two points behind leader AZ Alkmaar, which plays Ajax on Sunday, when second-placed PSV Eindhoven also hosts Vitesse Arnhem.
Elsewhere, Bas Dost scored in each half as SC Heerenveen beat De Graafschap 2-0. Rangelo Janga, Roland Alberg and Darren Maatsen scored as lowly Excelsior Rotterdam stunned NAC Breda 3-0.
