Steve Kean has revealed that Blackburn Rovers rejected two bids for Christopher Samba from an unnamed club last week, but has reiterated that the defender is not for sale.

QPR reportedly made afive million pound offer for the 27-year-old, while Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has also confirmed his interest in the center back.

French club Paris Saint-Germain is also believed to be in the running to sign the defender after quotes appeared in L'Equipe from Samba saying he was keen on a move and admitting his frustration at the goings on behind-the-scenes at Ewood Park.

Kean told reporters: "There were two bids from one club, that were refused, and there was a statement put out from the club to say that he is not for sale.

"It is a strong statement and that is the statement we are backing all the way. He is an important player and we want him to stay."

Samba signed a long-term deal last February which keeps him at the club until 2015 and Kean is eager for the player to honor his contract.

He continued: "We committed ourselves to Chris. He is not a long time into a long contract. There has been an offer that has come in and we have said no.

"There was interest in the last window and I believe there has been interest long before I was sitting here [as manager].

"There has been interest all along. It doesn't surprise me, because he is a quality player for us and we would like to keep him. I would like to end it at that."

Kean is looking to add to his squad instead of getting rid of anybody and has reportedly made a bid for Fulham striker Andy Johnson, though he refused to confirm or deny the rumors.

He report: "I don't want to mention any names.

"I said at the beginning of the window, we will try and get bodies in and try and get them as quickly as we can."
