Carles Puyol: Remains optimistic despite Barca slipping behind in title race
Captain Carles Puyol remains confident Barcelona can retain the Primera Liga title despite slipping five points behind leaders Real Madrid.
The European champions conceded a late goal to draw 1-1 with Espanyol on Sunday, 24 hours after Jose Mourinho's side had taken apart Granada 5-1.
But veteran defender Puyol is staying optimistic despite that setback.
He told Barcelona's official website: "Five points is a significant distance, but it can be retrieved.
"We will not concede the league and we will fight to the end. We still aim to be champions."
