Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is of the opinion that he still has much to do before he is at the same level as the likes of Barcelona duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
The Germany vice-captain has been recently compared to the Spanish midfielders, but in an exclusive interview with Goal.com, he revealed that he must first get the better of his counterparts before he is categorized alongside them.
“Xavi and Iniesta are great players. They play for the best team in the world," he said. "And we will try to beat the best team in the world.
"And when we beat the best team of the world, maybe then some Bayern Munich players will be among the best in the world."
Following Bayern's 4-0 victory over the Indian national team in an exhibition match in New Delhi on Tuesday, Schweinsteiger reflected on the game and wished the home side well in the future.
"The match was good," he said. "The stadium was not full but the crowd was very loud. The Indian team, especially in the second half, was good.
"We didn’t get to stay here for long as we generally spend our time on tour. But we had a good time. Everybody was nice to us and everything was great. I hope that football comes more and more here in India."
