I have a say

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed his interest in bringing Marseille forward Loic Remy to White Hart Lane.

The 25-year-old has bagged seven goals in 18 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, while also scoring twice in the group stages of this year's Champions League, with Marseille set to face Inter in the last 16 of the tournament.

The Spurs boss only has three strikers on his books at the moment - on-loan Manchester City man Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe and out-of-favor Roman Pavlyuchenko, and could be poised to move for Remy.

"He's a good player," Redknapp said of Remy. "He's a player we like and there's interest there. We could have had him a couple of years ago, to be honest with you.

"He has pushed on. He was a player we looked at and I watched him a couple of times at that stage, but he went to Marseille.

"There is interest there. But that is as far [as it goes]. At the moment, there is nothing more than that."

However Redknapp’s hopes of forcing through a deal during the current transfer window could be dampened due to the French club's involvement in Europe's elite tournament.

Remy started off his career at Ligue 1 giant Lyon, and was close to moving to Stoke City shortly before completing a big-money move to Marseille.

Spurs have been linked to host of players already this month, including Newcastle United striker Demba Ba, who reportedly has a 7 million pound release clause in his contract - an issue Redknapp was once again keen to discuss.

"I keep hearing conflicting stories about the buyout clause," he added. One person says one thing and [then] somebody comes on and says he can be bought out for X amount.

"I think the only people that probably know are Newcastle and Demba Ba."
