Chelsea goalie Courtois keen on Atletico extension

On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois would like to remain at Atletico Madrid for another season if the two clubs can work out a deal.

The 19-year-old Belgium keeper joined the Spanish club on a season-long deal and immediately cemented the starting spot left vacant by the departure of David De Gea to Manchester United.

Courtois says “it’s still only January and there is still time to decide on a second year or not. I like Madrid and Atletico Madrid, a very good club where I have made many friends. Playing here a second year would be good.”

Courtois has made 17 appearances this season for mid-table Atletico between league and Europa League competitions.
