It had been reported last week that Juve had already agreed a deal for the Uruguay international but his current employers are refusing to let him go on the cheap
Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez has declared that Martin Caceres will remain at the Sanchez Pizjuan if Juventus do not significantly increase their offer for the player.
It was reported last week that the deal for the Uruguay international had already been agreed.
However, Rodriguez has revealed that talks are ongoing because the two clubs have very different valuations of the player.
"Unless another proposal arrives that is much higher than the existing offer, Caceres will stay here,” he is quoted as saying by Sport.
Rodriguez acknowledged that Sevilla do have to cash in on the 24-year-old defender but that they “do not necessarily have to sell in January” and can afford to hold on to Caceres until the summer.
It had been claimed that Juventus agreed to pay €3 million (£2.4m) up front for Caceres, who had a previous loan spell in Turin during the 2009-2010 season, and then a further €7m (£5.7m) if they wished to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
