Forlan: We never forget how to score

Inter Milan forward Diego Forlan has insisted that he and his colleagues have not forgotten the knack of scoring goals.

Forlan, along with fellow strikers Giampaolo Pazzini and Diego Milito, endured long barren streaks in front of goal for the majority of the 2011/2012 campaign, culminating in Inter's paltry record of just 22 goals scored in 16 Serie A matches.

Nevertheless, Uruguayan hitman Forlan, who joined the San Siro outfit in the summer from Atletico Madrid, is adamant that the trio will soon be banging in the goals once again.

"We went through a difficult period, but now the team is winning and it is important to regain full confidence in our ability," the 32-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"When you don't play well, you have fewer chances to score. But players like Pazzini, Milito and myself never forget how to score, and when you recover confidence and things start to turn, the strikers will start to get goals again."

Forlan, who has recovered from a niggling muscle tear in his left leg, is chomping at the bit to get back out onto the pitch.

"I'm very well right now. After all, this injury has been a positive thing as it gave me the opportunity to take a breath," Forlan remarked.

"Now I have resumed training and playing with the team, and we hope to do well."

"[Inter coach] Claudio Ranieri knows what is the best thing to do, given his years of experience. Together with the doctors, he will make the right choices for me and the team. I am calm and serene."

Inter, who have rose steadily to fifth spot in the table, will resume their Serie A campaign after the winter break when they welcome Parma on January 7.
