Napoli have announced the signing of Chile forward Eduardo Vargas from Universidad de Chile.
In a statement on the club's website, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says Vargas has passed medical exams and signed a contract.
Napoli did not divulge financial details, although they reportedly paid a €12 million ($15.7 million) transfer fee.
The 22-year-old Vargas scored 32 goals in 77 matches in all competitions for Universidad de Chile over the past two seasons and also scored twice for Chile in a 3-2 loss to Spain in a friendly in September.
Napoli, who face Chelsea in the second round of the Champions League, were looking to add depth in attack, where Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani have played constantly.
