Substitute Andrea Catellani scored five minutes from time to secure a 3-3 draw for Catania at Parma.
Francesco Modesto put Parma in front in the fifth minute, before Sergio Almiron and Jonathan Biabiany traded quickfire strikes to leave the hosts 2-1 in front.
Sergio Floccari extended the lead to two goals, before Francesco Lodi's 74th-minute penalty and Catellani's late leveller.
Modesto's opening goal was a straightforward move from the hosts, Daniele Galoppa providing the cross which was nodded in from a central position.
Sebastian Giovinco tried his luck in the 14th minute but his attempt was just wide.
Parma continued to push, Cristian Zaccarado drawing a save moments later, but Catania were the ones to score after 21 minutes.
A corner provided the opportunity and Almiron was on hand with the close-range finish.
Parity lasted only two minutes as former Inter Milan man Biabiany fired into the top corner to restore Parma's advantage.
On the stroke of half-time, Floccari found the net with the best effort yet, a 20-yarder into the top right.
Catania keeper Mariano Andujar was in action as the second half got under way, repelling a couple of decent chances, including another soaring effort from Biabiany.
But the visitors began to claw their way back into the game and had their reward 16 minutes from time when Alejandro Gomez was felled by Fabiano Santacroce, allowing Lodi to convert from the spot.
The race for a point was now on and Catellani claimed it with a right-footed volley from the edge of the penalty area in the 85th minute.
