Ederzito has emerged as a summer transfer target for Arsenal, as the club look to add to their forward options without breaking the bank.

The Guinea-Bissau-born striker currently plays his football for Portuguese side Academica, but will be out of contract at the end of the season.

As he will turn 24 next week, Ederzito will be available on a free transfer when his deal expires.

The Gunners are aware of his situation and Arsene Wenger has sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch him, reports the People.

Portuguese champions Porto are also interested and are likely to rival Arsenal for his signature in the summer.

Wenger has given mixed messages about whether he plans to sign a striker in January, but he seems certain to act at the end of the season.

The priority will be to persuade free-scoring captain Robin van Persie to forget about a big-money switch to Manchester
City and sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, but with Marouane Chamakh likely to move on, Arsenal will need at least one new forward.
