Albion Rovers FC 3 - 1 Dumbarton - Gemmell at the double
Posted Saturday, December 10, 2011 by PA
John Gemmell scored twice to help Albion leapfrog Dumbarton with a 3-1 win at Cliftonhill Stadium.
Gemmell was on the scoresheet after just five minutes when he let fly from 20 yards to send a stunning effort into the top left-hand corner after the visitors had failed to clear Anthony Stevenson's corner.
Gemmell then recorded his fifth goal in seven games to double his side's lead when he converted Steven Lawless' cross from close-range after 25 minutes.
Bryan Prunty's eighth goal of the season brought Dumbarton back into the game eight minutes before half-time, bundling home from six yards to give the Sons hope.
Any chance of a comeback was extinguished on the hour mark when Robert Love re-established Albion's two-goal advantage with a tidy right-footed finish from 12 yards out.
