West Bromwich(WBA) vs Wigan Athletic preview - No worries for Hodgson

West Brom head coach Roy Hodgson has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home Barclays Premier League clash with Wigan.

Midfield playmaker Zoltan Gera is the only major casualty with the knee injury which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Hodgson will be hoping five-goal top scorer Shane Long, who netted in last weekend's 1-1 draw at QPR, can continue to play and defy his current groin problem.

Fellow foward Simon Cox accepts he may have to leave to further his international ambitions after starting just one match for them so far this season.

Cox knows he cannot afford too much more inactivity if he is to make the trip with the Republic of Ireland to next summer's Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine.

Tthe 24-year-old admitted: "I would like to play more and it might be something I have to look at in the Christmas period."

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes attention to "small details" can rescue his side's season.

The Barclays Premier League's bottom side face games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United later in December.

The Latics have just nine points to their name after 14 games but Martinez feels they are unlucky not to have at least six more, a figure which would put them level with 14th-placed Baggies.

Martinez, whose side only avoided relegation on the final day of last season, said: "I think we are missing six or seven points and the margins between having those points and not are very small. That is not plucking a figure out of the air, it is how the games have gone. But there is a real sense of responsibility in our squad and we have learnt a lot from previous seasons.

"The small details have a massive effect in this league and that comes with experience. We have developed maturity in our squad and I am pleased with the way we have dealt with those disappointing moments.

"We are ready to turn all that into positives and make sure we affect the next third of the competition, which is a critical period for us. It is important in the next 10 games we get into a position where we can regain those points we dropped softly."

Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz returns from suspension.

The Paraguay international has now served his three-match ban for spitting at Wolves' Richard Stearman and his availability means Latics are back at full strength.

Fellow defender Emmerson Boyce will again push for inclusion following injury while Martinez must decide whether to restore striker Hugo Rodallega to the side.
