Paul McManus stepped off the bench to secure a 1-1 draw with for Brechin against Arbroath.

The striker's last-gasp goal prevented City from dropping into the bottom two.

The match started as expected with the in-form hosts inches away from taking the lead when Stuart Malcolm's header struck the bar.

Brechin, looking to avenge their 3-2 defeat in September, were valiant in defence and continued to frustrate the home side after the break.

Arbroath finally took the lead just after the hour, when Steven Doris headed into the path of Josh Falkingham, who lashed home past Craig Nelson.

The Smokies looked to be heading for a victory that would take them top of the Second Division, but with time almost up, Derek Carcary's deep cross from the left was turned in by McManus to steal a point for Brechin.
