Pep Guardiola: Barca hope he will tread a similar path to Sir Alex Ferguson
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is hoping Pep Guardiola will cement his legend status at the club by bossing them for many years to come.
Guardiola has overseen a glittering era in Barca's illustrious history, with the Catalan giants widely acknowledged as the best club side on the planet.
Barca owe a lot of their success to their manager, with their intricate footballing philosophy having been shaped by the man in the dugout.
Guardiola was drafted into the role because he knew all about the club from his playing days and early coaching career, and he has helped to take the side to a new level.
Understandably, Barca are reluctant to contemplate change and Rosell admits he would love to see Guardiola follow the lead of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and remain at the helm of one club for over 25 years.
Dream
"I believe that Pep could spend more time here than Alex Ferguson has done at Manchester United," said the Camp Nou supremo.
"My dream is that Pep will be our Ferguson.
"Guardiola represents all the characteristics of the Barca movement.
"He has been part of this club from when he was a child and he is now triumphing as a coach. This is very important to our supporters.
