WEST BROMWICH, England (AP)—Hungary captain Zoltan Gera will miss the rest of the season because of the knee injury he sustained playing for West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League.
West Brom says that the 32-year-old midfielder’s injury has been diagnosed as a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
Gera was hurt in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Tottenham and will have surgery on his left knee this weekend.
West Brom says “the usual rehabilitation time for this injury is six to nine months.”
It added that Gera could be fit “for the start of next season.”
Gera had only played three times since rejoining West Brom from Fulham in July on a two-year contract.
