Juventus join Man United and Chelsea in eyeing Udinese defender

Manchester United and Chelsea have been joined in the pursuit of Mehdi Benatia by Juventus.
The Moroccan centre-back has emerged as one of the most assured defenders in Serie A this season and both English clubs are believed to be actively seeking cover at the back.
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that age has caught up with Rio Ferdinand and he has lost a yard of pace while Brazilian Alex does not seem to have a future at Chelsea under Andre Villas-Boas.
Benatia, 24, has missed just one of his side's league fixtures this season and scored his only goal of the season in the win over Bologna in October.
The former Clermont man's form has helped lift Udinese up to third in the Italian top flight and that has attracted the attention of a number of European clubs keen to reinforce their squads in January.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus have already been in touch with their league rivals but have been told by owner Giampaolo Pozzo that no such switch will be considered, at least until the end of the season when the price could be as high as £15m.
