David Beckham: Could be on his way out of LA Galaxy after picking up first trophy

The Commissioner for Major League Soccer, Don Garber, has admitted he is unsure if the division will be able to keep David Beckham.

The former England captain has reached the end of his five-year deal with LA Galaxy, earning around $6.5million per year, making him the highest paid player in the league.

Beckham picked up his first trophy with Galaxy earlier this month when they defeated Houston Dynamo 1-0 to win the MLS Cup.

He has been strongly linked with a move to back to Europe, with Paris Saint Germain one possible destination as their new owners flex their financial muscles.

Garber said: "I hope he remains in Major League Soccer and continues his career in the United States, sitting here today I'm not sure that will happen.

"It's been a great five-year experience for us, he's delivered on all the expectations that we've had."

The league is rapidly growing in popularity in the States and there are plans to launch a dedicated MLS television channel in the future.

In addition to this they are looking to add a second franchise to New York City to feature alongside to the Red Bulls.

Garber added: "We are working closely with the city, trying to find sites to build the stadium, I think it will be a record franchise fee paid for that team."
