Dumbarton battled to a deserved 0-0 draw at league-leaders Cowdenbeath to bounce back from their Scottish Cup defeat against Brechin.

In terrible conditions at Central Park, both sides had chances to win the game, with a flurry of chances coming in the closing stages. Lewis Coult came close for Cowdenbeath in the 84th minute when his header from six-yards out went wide of the left post.

Dumbarton midfielder Martin McNiff could have sealed the win for his side when his header went over the bar in the 89th minute.

Alan Adamson and Colin Cameron both made changes in the late stages of the game but none of the five substitutes were able to instigate a change in the scoreline.

Despite the draw, Cowdenbeath remain top of the league and level on points with Arbroath.
