POZNAN, Poland (AP)—European Championship co-host Poland needed an own goal to beat Hungary 2-1 in a friendly at home on Tuesday.

Hungary defender Vilmos Vanczak accidentally sent the ball into his own net in the 84th minute, six minutes after the visitors had equalized.

Tamas Priskin scored for Hungary after receiving a precise pass from Akos Elek and shooting beyond goalkeeper Lukasz Fabjanski and inside the post.

Poland forward Pawel Brozek opened the scoring in the 37th minute but wasted many chances afterward in a match in which only 7,000 tickets were sold.

Poland coach Franciszek Smuda said too many easy scoring situations were wasted and the defense was notably porous.

“We lost the ball too quickly and we were not aggressive enough—we don’t apply pressure,” Smuda said.

Hungary coach Sandor Egervari praised his players for controlling the match in the second half and said they had chances to win.
