Darren Bent: Fernando Torres is Premier League’s top striker

TOP OF THE WORLD ... Bent says World Cup winner Torres is still No 1

FERNANDO TORRES has hit just three Premier League goals since his £50million move to Chelsea in January.

But England rival Darren Bent still thinks the Spaniard is the No 1 hitman around.

Bent said: "Torres is the best striker in the Premier League when fit, he's that good. I've followed him from Atletico Madrid right through to Chelsea.

"Even though he missed a chance at Blackburn, he's still the best.

"He's quick, powerful, has a good touch, can shoot with either foot and use his head."

But Bent is just as wary of Torres' talented Spain team-mates.

Bent, 27, said: "Every name on the Spain team-sheet is world class.Look back at Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning team and it's similar.

"They had Ronaldo, Romario and Ronaldinho. Spain have Torres, Juan Mata and David Silva.

"Saturday's friendly will be a tough test but we won't let them settle."
