The trainer is thrilled with the success of his rotation policy, but affirmed that he would not hesitate in choosing a first-choice between the Argentine and the Frenchman
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has declared his delight at the success of his rotation policy up front, but admitted that soon he would have to choose between Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema.
The two forwards have so far shared attacking duties to ease the effect of Madrid's demanding fixture list in 2011-12 with Argentina international Higuain hitting the net nine times in 13 appearances, whilst Benzema has managed six in 11 between La Liga and European action.
As Mourinho prepares for Wednesday's continental clash with Lyon, he insisted that he was happy not to have to pick a first-choice from the pair.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the former Inter boss said: "With the number of consecutive games that we have been playing, putting into place this type of rotation is good for the team and good for the players.
"The two are on top form, playing well.
"The moment will probably come where I will have to decide, and I will do it without problems.
"Thinking a lot, and taking into account the consequences.
"The two can play together, no problem, but in this moment the team is playing well; they have found a balance.
"I have spoken with the two and both understand that they are playing for the good of the team."
Mourinho also foresaw a tough encounter against the French team, insisting that they would come out for the win.
He continued: "It is normal for Lyon to come out with aggression and motivation.
"They have four points, tied with Ajax, but if they beat the Dutch team and Dinamo they will qualify [for the knock-out stages] with 10 points," the Portuguese coach pointed out.
"It is not a life or death game for them, but needing it or not, it is a game against Madrid which always motivates.
"It will be tough."
The Spanish team take on Lyon away from home on Wednesday evening after beginning their Champions League campaign with three straight victories.
