Hamilton FC 2 : 3 Ayr Utd. - Smith leaves it late for Ayr
Posted Saturday, October 29, 2011 by PA
Christopher Smith's 90th-minute header snatched a dramatic 3-2 win for Ayr at Hamilton.
Paul Currie put the hosts in front on 17 minutes from the penalty spot after Smith had fouled Matthew Paterson inside the box, with Greig Spence's header a minute before half-time doubling their advantage.
But Ayr began the second half with purpose and halved the deficit on 52 minutes when Michael Moffat swept home from inside the area.
John Robertson scored five minutes later to pull them level, the defender converting Micheal McGowan's free-kick to finish from close-range.
The match looked destined to end all-square before Smith's winner in second-half injury-time as the defender atoned for his earlier error by burying his header beyond David Hutton.
