AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is hoping he'll eventually be able to play football again as he battles a nerve problem in one of his eyes.
Gattuso hasn't played since colliding with teammate Alessandro Nesta during the Serie A opener ON September 9. He has been advised by a series of specialists to wait another two to six months before deciding whether to undergo surgery.
One of the key members of the Italy squad that won the 2006 World Cup, Gattuso says that he can't drive his children to school and that he sees double when he takes off a thick pair of glasses.
However, Gattuso says he is working out intensely in the gym, "and that's giving me the strength not to give up. ... There's worse things in life."
