Ayr Utd. 1 : 3 Dundee - Dundee end barren run
Posted Saturday, October 22, 2011 by PA
Dundee ended a run of four games without a win and moved off the foot of the Scottish First Division with a comfortable 3-1 win at Ayr.
The visitors took the lead after 15 minutes when Stephen O'Donnell produced a pin-point cross from the right wing for Rhys Weston to head into the corner.
Matthew Lockwood then had a chance to extend their lead after Weston was bundled over in the area, but his weak penalty was saved by Kevin Cuthbert.
The second goal finally did arrive after 71 minutes when Nicholas Riley found Leighton Mcintosh and the midfielder produced a neat finish.
Mark Roberts pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute following Lockwood's rash challenge on Michael Moffat, but Steven Milne's fifth goal of the season three minutes later ensured that Ayr go bottom.
