Mourinho calm over Real form

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is remaining grounded as his side have bagged five successive victories, scoring 21 goals and conceding just three in the process.

Real thrashed Lyon 4-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night and sit just one point behind top two Barcelona and Levante in the La Liga table, but the Portuguese coach is not getting carried away and says there is still work to do.

"I don't know if we are in the best moment since I arrived,'' he said in AS. ''Not long ago we dropped five points in the league. I like many things and others can be improved on, but we are in a nice positive moment.

"Now we have a difficult fixture list. We are facing Malaga, Villarreal and Real Sociedad without barely a break. We need to see how these games go before talking about a good run of form."

Mourinho is also pleased that the team are starting to rely on Cristiano Ronaldo less for goals. None of Real's last 14 have come from the £80 million man, but Mourinho is not bothered by his relative drought as long as the club continue to win.

"I'm delighted with Cristiano. The big problem is when Cristiano doesn't score and neither do the team, like against Racing and Levante," Mourinho added. "In the last few games he hasn't scored but the team has. Last year he won the Golden Shoe and Pichichi. Maybe this year he will win more important things."
