Roma has been buoyed by the early arrival of new general manager Franco Baldini ahead of this weekend’s Serie A clash with Palermo.
Sporting director Walter Sabatini had stated after Sunday’s derby defeat by Lazio that Baldini would not start work in the Eternal City until next week.
However, the 51-year-old Italian, who has been England boss Fabio Capello’s right-hand man for the past four years, arrived in Trigoria on Wednesday morning and was formally introduced to the players and the coaching staff just before training.
Meanwhile, Francesco Totti has been ruled out of Sunday’s meeting with Palermo at the Stadio Olimpico but, in a boost for Roma, its talisman is back running again as he continues his recovery from a thigh problem.
