Siena midfielder Simone Vergassola expects his side to be put to the test by in-form Cagliari.

Cagliari have yet to lose at the Sant' Elia stadium this season and go into this weekend's encounter on the back of a 2-0 triumph at Lecce - their third win of the campaign.

That result lifted Cagliari to fifth place, just one point behind joint-Serie A leaders Juventus and Udinese.

Siena, meanwhile, have claimed just one win in their opening five games and will be desperate to improve their away record against Cagliari.

Siena have won just once and lost twice at Cagliari in Serie A.

"It's going to be a very difficult game on the road for us," Vergassola said to acsiena.it.

"Cagliari are very well organised and they have quick strikers and a quality midfield line.

"We have to be extremely careful because Cagliari are unpredictable and we will have to take control of the game from the start if we are to take home some points in our battle to avoid the drop."

Vergassola believes his side will have to show a vast improvement with respect to their 2-0 defeat at Palermo last time out.

The result dropped the Tuscan outfit to 14th in the standings.

"We need to be more aggressive," he said.

"We didn't play well against Palermo and we must show more focus and determination, starting on Sunday."

Siena will be at full strength with striker Emanuele Calaio having recovered from a muscular problem.

The hosts are still without injured striker Moestafa el Kabir.
