England manager Fabio Capello has revealed that Wayne Rooney apologized to his teammates after getting sent off against Montenegro.
Rooney kicked out at Miodrag Dzudovic in full view of his manager and the referee, something Capello refused to condone.
"He made a silly mistake and said: 'Yes, sorry'," Capello told reporters.
"It's a red card. You can't defend that. He has made a silly mistake. I have seen players like him do that. You can't understand why."
Montenegro manager Branko Brnovic, who was delighted with his side's result, admitted he was shocked to see the Manchester United striker on the team-sheet following the arrest of this father.
"I read in the newspapers that Rooney has some family problems in England," said Brnovic.
"To be honest, I didn't expect him to play because those things are serious and it's not easy to concentrate on the game. They're serious, and maybe that's why he did what he did."
Rooney’s red card last night makes him the second England player, alongside David Beckham, to have received a red card for the national side on two occasions. He will now be suspended for England’s first game at Euro 2012.
