Pedro Leon reveals Jose Mourinho blocked Chelsea transfer

On-loan Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon has revealed a proposed January transfer to Chelsea was blocked by former Blues boss Jose Mourinho, after a bitter war of words that left the 24-year-old feeling 'humiliated'.

Leon joined Real Madrid in a £10million move from Getafe last summer, but after struggling to break into the starting lineup, he was ultimately left out of the squad for the Champions League clash with Auxerre in September 2010, in a decision widely criticised by the media.

Mourinho defended his selection by saying: 'You talk of Pedro Leon as if he was Zinedine Zidane or Diego Maradona or Alfredo di Stefano. When he works how I like him to, it will be easier for him to play, and when he doesn't, it will be harder for him to play.'

Those comments riled up Leon, who said he was left feeling 'humiliated' by the comments, before Mourinho delivered the exciting winger another blow by blocking a January switch to Chelsea, much to the wingers frustration: 'Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and of course I was excited about the possibility. The coach gave me his opinion and told me he would not let me go. He told me I would not play much in London'.

Leon would go to play just six times all season for Madrid, before re-joining Getafe on loan in January, with a view to a permanent deal.
