Zimbabwe FA: African Cup qualifier could be fixed

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP)—The Zimbabwe Football Association says it has written to FIFA and the Confederation of African Football over concerns that a decisive Cup of Nations qualifying match between Mali and Liberia could be fixed.
Zimbabwe’s national federation, still embroiled in its own match-fixing controversy, says it fears Mali has tried to manipulate Saturday’s match in Liberia to ensure the Malians qualify for the African Cup at the expense of Zimbabwe.
ZIFA chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze tells The Associated Press that Zimbabwe will also play “under protest” in its final qualifying game in Cape Verde.
Mashingaidze wrote in his letter to FIFA and CAF that his association wished to file a formal protest over possible match-fixing in the game in Monrovia.
