Kyle Lafferty’s second-half goal gave Rangers a 1-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday, while Motherwell kept pace with the Scottish leader with a 3-1 victory at Dundee United.
Lafferty made up for Steven Whittaker’s earlier penalty miss by meeting Gregg Wylde’s cross at the back post and slotting a shot into the net in the 68th.
Motherwell stayed within nine points of Rangers after taking a 3-0 lead by the 64th minute from a goal by Keith Lasley and a double from Michael Higdon, who scored his second with a penalty. Jonathan Daly pulled one back for the hosts in the 77th.
Celtic trails Rangers by 10 points but has two games in hand, including Sunday’s game against Hearts.
Also Saturday, Inverness beat St. Mirren 2-1 and St. Johnstone won 2-1 at Kilmarnock.
