Done deal? Cahill seems to be heading to Chelsea
The Blues have been inserted as odds on favourites to land the in-demand defender, and it seems Andre Villas-Boas’ side have an agreement with the Trotters already in place.
Arsenal and Tottenham were strongly linked with Cahill in the summer, but both failed with late bids for the 25-year-old, with
Bolton boss Owen Coyle describing the Gunners offer as ‘derisory’.
Spurs also failed to meet Wanderers valuation on transfer deadline day, but Cahill will have just six months left on his contract in January, meaning his price tag will be significantly reduced.
With Bolton currently rooted to the bottom of the table, Cahill will likely be looking to quit in the New Year, and Chelsea will probably be able to offer the England man Champions League football, as well the chance to compete in the title race.
Sky Bet make Cahill 4/5 to arrive at Stamford Bridge before the end of February 2012, with Spurs and the Gunners both available at 5/1.
