Steven Gerrard’s back on the bench

KOP STAR ... Steven Gerrard
STEVEN GERRARD will continue his Liverpool return with a place on the bench for Saturday's Merseyside derby.
The Kop skipper has just two appearances as a sub this season — totalling only 23 minutes.
But, despite coming through the next stage of his recovery from groin surgery in a training game yesterday, he is still short of match fitness.
And that will see boss Kenny Dalglish leaving his skipper among the replacements for the short trip to Everton.
Dirk Kuyt, last season's leading scorer, is hoping for a start after kicking off only half of Liverpool's six league games to date.
But the Holland hitman has warned his strike partner Luis Suarez will get even better — as he is still getting to grips with the game in England.
Suarez was a £24million buy from Ajax in January and Kuyt, who came from Feyenoord eight years ago, knows exactly what a jump it is from Holland.
He insisted: "What people seem to forget about Luis is that it really is a very big step to come from the Eredivisie.
"The style of football and the pace are totally different and it's very difficult to be a success straight away.
"He has done brilliantly and he has become a very important player.
"But he will be even better in the future. He has time to get used to the Premier League."
