Radamel Falcao continued his amazing start to life in the Primera Division with two more goals as Atletico Madrid cruised past Sporting Gijon 4-0 at the Vicente Calderon.
The Colombian, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, was heavily involved in the first goal as his shot was turned into his own net by Alberto Lora.
Alvaro Dominguez headed home the second before Falcao turned the Sporting defence one way then another and curled a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
The former Porto striker, who cost Atletico an initial 40million euros this summer, then sealed the win with a trademark header from Gabi's free-kick.
Falcao made his name in Portugal for his fantastic heading ability and he caused the Sporting defence huge problems all evening from set-pieces.
The opening goal came from Gabi's corner to the back post which Falcao hooked goalwards and Lora in a desperate attempt to clear could only direct into his own net.
Atletico grew in confidence after the opener and Falcao was unlucky not to score the second goal twice in a minute just before half-time.
Firstly he was adjudged to have pushed Ivan Cuellar when heading in another Gabi corner despite there being no contact between the two and then Cuellar did well to save at the Colombian's feet as he bundled Silvio's cross towards goal.
Sporting had their own cause for grievance minutes into the second half when Miguel De Las Cuevas appeared to be pushed over by Miranda when trying to get on the end of a Carmelo Gonzalez cross.
The referee waved away penalty claims which if it had been given could also have to have seen Miranda sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Atletico responded strongly and after Cuellar flapped at another set-piece, Dominguez headed into an empty net 22 minutes from time to double his side's lead.
Falcao finally did get on the scoresheet four minutes later as he controlled inside the area, turned Lora inside then out and curled beautifully into the bottom corner and he made it six goals in four games since joining Atletico with a powerful header from another Gabi free-kick past Cuellar into the top corner.
