QPR boss Neil Warnock has told playmaker Adel Taarabt he must earn the new deal he is reportedly seeking.
Warning: Taarabt given a word of advice by Warnock
It has been suggested the 22-year-old, who is thought to earn £25,000 per week, wants an improved contract after the arrival of highly paid signings like Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand and Shaun Wright-Phillips. But Warnock said: ‘There are plenty [in the queue] before him – me included.
'I don’t see any new contracts for anybody before Christmas. We’ve all got things to prove and we’ve got to do it consistently.
'When you’ve had a good game for an hour, you don’t start spouting.
'You start spouting when you’ve got eight, nine, ten goals coming up to Christmas.’
Warnock warned that the influx of new faces at Loftus Road meant Taarabt could have no excuse for failing to produce his best.
He added: ‘He’s got a team that are capable of giving him the ball in dangerous areas and he’s got to perform.’
